Passive DNS

Passive DNS collects and stores resource records logged in DNS responses.

Passive DNS does not actively query DNS servers. Instead, it uses an archive of previously received responses.

On the Passive DNS tab, you can:

  • search for domains that have ever resolved to a specific IP address

  • explore mappings between domains and IP addresses

  • analyze the infrastructure and history of domains

  • conduct cybersecurity investigations

There are three search tabs available:

Search results across all tabs are displayed as a resource record table. For a detailed description of the table columns, see the Passive DNS search results section.
